Western Regional Sales Manager

Our client is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of consumer goods. Due to an ongoing growth phase, they are seeking a:

 

Western Regional Sales Manager

 

Reporting to the National Sales Director, you will be responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in assigned territories. By directing a sales team from a home-based office and providing leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and sales growth in line with our business plan, you will establish and implement strategies to expand the company’s customer base and programs for Dealers and Territory Managers.

 

Duties / Activities / Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct sales force to achieve sales and profit goals within a defined territory
  • Promote and sell the company’s wide range of hearth and fireplace products through a dealer direct network
  • Develop a business plan and sales strategy for the territory
  • Responsible for the performance and development of Territory Managers.
  • Prepare action plans by individual as well as by team for effective search of sales leads and prospects.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Conducts one-on-one review with all Territory Managers to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of Territory Managers sales and activity performance.
  • Provides timely feedback to senior management regarding sales and territory performance.
  • Assists Territory Managers in preparation of proposals and presentations when necessary.
  • Controls expenses to meet budget guidelines.
  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team.
  • Recruits, hires and trains Territory Managers based on criteria agreed upon by senior management
  • Assists and participates in national, regional and local promotions including trade and consumer shows where applicable.
  • Actively communicate company activities and events through ‘Social Media’ such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Prepare monthly sales report detailing sales, activities, significant events, competition, etc.
  • Maintain at all times a variety of demo products for demonstration and use. (To be determined by the National Sales Director).
  • Extensive territory travel and weekend work as required.
  • The ability to travel throughout USA and Canada from time to time.
  • The ability to work from a home office environment

 

Knowledge / Education / Experience:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related area is preferred as is at least 5 years of experience in the field.
  • Must have proven experience managing and supporting a sales team, and growing sales in a defined territory within the specialty retail environment.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Time management skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs and Social Media applications.
